For too long, exhibitions have taken place behind closed doors. In spaces where you hesitate before entering. Where you speak quietly. Where you sometimes wonder whether you belong there at all.
At galerie POSTOJ, we give space to the next generation of artists and to topics that resonate with the world around us. We stand behind our artists from their first exhibitions, because the beginning is often the most challenging stage. And that is when support matters most.
We believe contemporary art should be accessible to everyone — regardless of age, education or profession. Traditional galleries put up barriers. We break them down.
Exhibitions take place in the vestibule of Náměstí Republiky metro station. Not exactly where you'd expect a gallery, right? There used to be a currency exchange here — offering sixteen crowns to the euro when the going rate was significantly higher. We couldn't let that stand. And so, in 2022, the story of galerie POSTOJ began.
